Tomb Raider Prepares for Netflix Debut with New Promo

Netflix has given fans a fresh glimpse of Lara Croft's first-ever anime series, Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft, set to premiere on October 11th. This series aims to dive into a new chapter for the iconic adventurer, originally known from the world of video games. To build anticipation for its next animated video game adaptation, Netflix has once again teased what's to come for Lara Croft. As the streaming giant continues to find success with video game adaptations, this new Tomb Raider series follows in the footsteps of many popular shows.

For those eager to learn more about The Legend of Lara Croft, the story unfolds within the universe established by the video games. It picks up after the rebooted Tomb Raider trilogy, which provided a fresh take on Lara’s character following her debut decades ago on the original PlayStation.

Fans are eager to see how far Lara has come in this new series, with a trailer set to drop during Netflix's #GeekedWeek.

The Future of the Tomb Raider Franchise

In addition to the anime series, there is also a live-action Tomb Raider show in development for Amazon Video, helmed by Phoebe Waller-Bridge. While no release date has been announced for this series, it has been officially picked up by Amazon and MGM. On the video game front, an official follow-up to the reboot trilogy has yet to be announced, but Lara Croft continues to make appearances in unexpected places. Recently, she was featured as a survivor in Dead by Daylight, facing off against iconic horror characters like Freddy Krueger and Michael Myers. While Dead by Daylight is getting its own live-action film, it’s unlikely Lara will make an appearance.

Netflix’s Role in Video Games

In addition to adapting video games into animated series, Netflix also offers its subscribers a selection of video games to play. This includes titles like Grand Theft Auto 3, Death’s Door, Hades, Sonic Mania, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge. Fans can even enjoy a Lara Croft-centered game, Tomb Raider Reloaded.
