DOOM: The Dark Ages Trailer Drops During WrestleMania 41
Get ready to Rip and Tear as DOOM's brutal new chapter reveals fresh footage
It's a good time to be a fan of brutal shooters, as the DOOM: The Dark Ages trailer drops during WrestleMania 41 in support of id Software's medieval prequel. The upcoming first-person shooter is one of the highly anticipated releases of the year, and Bethesda has now kicked the hype up to an eleven with a brand-new reveal at wrestling's biggest stage.
DOOM's WrestleMania 41 Takeover
The DOOM account on Twitter (X) announced that Official Trailer 2 will drop Sunday during WrestleMania 41, when a special TV spot will air during the event, and fans can expect the full trailer to drop online shortly after.
Although a wrestling event may appear to be an uncommon location, DOOM has a long history with WWE. Avid followers might remember that the 2005 DOOM movie included Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, a rising WWE superstar. Because of that legacy, it feels as if a WrestleMania spotlight is an unexpected twist in the franchise's return to glory.
A Look at the Doom Slayer in a Medieval Chaos
Long before the events of DOOM (2016) and DOOM Eternal, DOOM: The Dark Ages is set in a time long ago where the Slayer will be sent back even farther. Players will engage in a bloody war in a gothic-medieval setting, defeating hordes of Hell using visceral weaponry, including medieval-style weapons with an added DOOM twist.
The Dark Ages also seeks to rectify some of the criticisms of DOOM Eternal, namely, the excessive platforming. As pitched in previews, The Dark Ages aims to offer a larger focus on ground-based gameplay, dodging enemy attacks and allowing for momentum to take hold.

Tackling the “Woke Ages” Backlash
Some online voices have branded DOOM: The Woke Ages as the title. To an extent, Hugo Martin, director, replied to the backlash in a recent developer video:
"DOOM: The Woke Ages... I have watched those videos. First of all, I disagree," said Martin. "Our design philosophy has always been balance - whether you are a new player or a veteran, we use sliders so that you mold the experience on a ripping and tearing basis."
Martin then reiterated that the gameplay will still be chaotic, skill-based, and customisable whether you want to rush through Hell or take your time with it.
With DOOM: The Dark Ages trailer dropping at WrestleMania, the countdown to launch is officially underway! With some explosive new gameplay reveals and a brand-new mediaeval setting, everything leads us to believe that DOOM is about to reclaim its title as the king of high-octane shooters.
DOOM: The Dark Ages has a scheduled launch of May 14, 2025, for all new-gen consoles, including Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
