Sabotage Studio, the team behind the 2023 indie RPG hit Sea of Stars
Has announced its biggest update yet, titled Dawn of Equinox, which will arrive on November 12th, 2024. This major update will be free for all players and available on PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC. Along with this update, Sea of Stars is also gearing up for the release of its DLC expansion Throes of the Watchmaker in 2025, which will be fully playable in co-op mode, thanks to new features rolling out in the upcoming patch.
One of the key highlights of this update is the introduction of local co-op, allowing up to three players to journey through the entire story together. Combat will also see a significant overhaul with the addition of Mystery Locks, requiring players to discover new strategies for breaking enemy spells. Additionally, Combat 2.0 will include rebalanced mechanics and new ways to interact with enemies through special skills and Combo Points that persist after battles.
Other changes include a revamped prologue
Which will now directly engage players in action without using flashbacks. New cutscenes and a Speedrunner Mode Relic are being introduced, offering players fresh content and optimized features for those aiming for record-breaking runs. The update also adds difficulty presets, catering to both newcomers and veterans, along with new quality-of-life features such as an improved parrot relic for easier tracking of secrets and collectibles.
Finally, a Quebecois localization ensures French Canadian players can fully immerse themselves in the story of the Solstice Warriors, alongside other general updates enhancing the overall gameplay experience with Sea of Stars.
