Mortal Kombat 1 Will Get New Skins Inspired
By The Movie Mortal Kombat 1 is getting new movie-themed skins based on the upcoming Mortal Kombat 2 film. NetherRealm Studios is bringing the film’s characters into the game for players to wear Karl Urban’s Johnny Cage, Adeline Rudolph’s Kitana, and Martyn Ford’s Shao Kahn. Players may receive these skins sometime in the future, possibly coinciding with the movie’s release on October 24, 2025.
Mortal Kombat 1 Movie Skins Release Details
Entertainment Weekly reports that these new skins will be part of an upcoming update for Mortal Kombat 1. While we don't know when exactly they will be released, we know they will be coming sometime before the end of this year. Considering the skins are linked to the movie's release date, the logical assumption is that they are set to drop around the release of its theatrical exhibition.
The game will feature characters from Mortal Kombat 2’s movie

For example, Kitana’s skin seems to take heavy influence from Mortal Kombat 11 but is tweaked subtly for the film. This isn’t the first time Mortal Kombat has brought in movie-inspired skins into the game. The previous ones had similar designs (based on the live actions), and they seem to continue. It is nonetheless uncertain whether more skins from the Mortal Kombat 2 film—such as Scorpion or Sub-Zero will also be added to Mortal Kombat 1.
