Tony Hawk Teases New Video Game with Activision
Tony Hawk, the legendary pro skater, recently hinted at a new video game collaboration with Activision. Although he didn't provide many specifics, Hawk did confirm that discussions are happening. The original Tony Hawk's Pro Skater made its debut in September 1999 and had a profound impact on both the gaming industry and the world of professional skateboarding. The game was a massive success, spawning numerous ports, sequels, and remakes. Now, four years after the release of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2, it seems a fresh project might be on the horizon.
During a recent appearance on Mythical Kitchen, Hawk spoke with host Josh Scherer, revealing that he's in talks with Activision about the beloved skateboarding series. Though he didn’t reveal too much, he expressed excitement about revisiting the series:
Hawk said,
“I wish I could tell you more, but... I’ve been talking to Activision again. Which is insanely exciting.”
Scherer reacted by saying,
"Get out of town. The boys are back," to which Hawk responded, “We’re working on something. This is the first time I’ve said that publicly.”
Scherer jokingly speculated that the next game might feature contact lenses that "make me skate," to which Hawk smiled and replied, "I can’t give any details, but it won’t be that." While fans would be thrilled with a new entry in the series or even a remaster of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 and 4, it’s still unclear what the collaboration will bring.
With Activision now under Xbox following last year's acquisition, the company has largely shifted its focus toward the Call of Duty franchise. However, Xbox has expressed interest in reviving many older Activision properties, including several fan favorites.
Alongside rumors of possible Transformers: War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron remasters, there has been talk of a new Spyro the Dragon game, and now, potentially, something linked to Tony Hawk's Pro Skater. While it's too early to say for sure, the return of these beloved franchises could signal an exciting new chapter for Activision.
Would you be excited about a new Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater game? What other classic Activision series would you like to see make a comeback?
