A mobile version of Palworld is officially in the works
Marking its expansion beyond the console and PC platforms. This new mobile project is a collaborative effort between Krafton and PUBG developer PUBG Studios. According to Krafton's press release, the mobile version aims to "faithfully reinterpret and implement the original's main fun elements to fit the mobile environment."
However, specific details regarding the licensing agreement and the game's release timeline remain scarce. Since the console and PC versions were released earlier this year, it's reasonable to assume that the mobile game is still in its early development stages.
The announcement of a Palworld mobile game
Doesn't come as a huge surprise. Back in January, after Palworld's initial release, developer Pocketpair warned players about knock-off versions of the game appearing on mobile platforms. This early interest from mobile gamers likely set the foundation for the eventual mobile project. However, as a smaller developer, Pocketpair likely prioritized enhancing the PC and console versions of Palworld before venturing into mobile development. With Krafton's extensive experience in creating successful mobile games like PUBG, they seem like a logical partner for this new venture.
At this point
It's unclear whether the mobile version will be a direct port of the existing game or a unique mobile experience tailored to mobile platforms. However, given Krafton’s expertise and the success of other AAA games like Resident Evil 7 on mobile, a port isn't out of the question. There’s also the possibility of features like cloud saving, which could bridge the gap between the mobile version and the existing console/PC releases. That said, for now, these are just speculations, and more details will likely emerge as development progresses.
Palworld first launched on Xbox and Steam in January
Quickly becoming a success, with over 15 million copies sold on Steam alone. Its popularity was further boosted by its inclusion on Xbox Game Pass. The game has since expanded to PlayStation 5, with Pocketpair actively working to maintain its momentum through updates and partnerships, including the new venture with Krafton. Additionally, Pocketpair announced a collaboration with Sony Music Entertainment and Aniplex in July, aimed at further developing the Palworld brand.
